The Permian Basin Master Gardener Website first appeared in
September, 2006, as a means to better reach our audience: all kinds of
West Texas Gardeners!
The website was selected as the
First Place winner of the 2006 Texas Master Gardener Association Mass Media Award by a panel of out-of-state judges.
The Permian Basin Master Gardener (PBMG) Program is a volunteer and educational program, whose members are trained by the Texas AgriLIFE Extension Service-Texas A&M University System.
The mission of the volunteers is to utilize their expertise to teach people more about horticulture and the importance of plants to the environment and to our quality of life. The program is designed to meet the horticultural needs of citizens of the Permian Basin.

Site design, layout, and construction was
initiated and performed by Richard Pate during 2006-2010. These
tasks are now being performed by Permian Basin Master Gardeners
Steven Schafersman and Doug Gressett since January, 2011. The PBMG
Site is slowly being revised to reflect their new site design and
file structure.
